So again I went to my specialist today.

1st time I saw him it was the old doctor said talk to new one in the mean time lets see if we can get you too see the study doctor since you want Rituximab again.

2nd time new doctor wants to know what the study doctor said "nothing you did not refer me. You want Rituximab and not your spleen out well I can fill out those forms for you. You do not need to see the study doctor.

3rd time Oh since you want Rituximab lets switch you to the cancer clinic so I agree. For some reason I thought that meant he would be filling out the forms to get me approval. Boy was I dumb!

Today my 4th visit he says so you want Rituximab I say yes than reminded him about the forms that need to be filled out by a doctor so the government will pay for the treatment since I had it through a drug study. This time he says Oh we do not need to fill out those forms. Roche pharmaceuticals has compassion program I just need to give them your name and they cover the drug for free!

So after getting a weight and height I was put in a room. Than I was visited by the pharmacist who was pleased I had filled out my medication list including vitamins. Than she offered me a booklet on stuff to help me quit smoking and away she and her partner went. Than next came the nurse who took my BP manually due to surprisingly low platelet count " 4 " Gave her the stack of forms they sent for me to fill out. Than we had to go through the what other medical issue you have? isn't it on the form? After we go through that she flips the page and say oh there not in order here is your list of medical conditions. Than after she leaves than I get to see the doctor!

So after being there for almost 2hrs I find out I'm still at square one!!! I don't care how cute he is I'm getting really sick and tired of this BS!!!! I'd bet half my paycheck that when I went to leave my BP was no longer 120/80 I'm betting it was much higher!!!

On a side note I have a few spots and bruises but no real bleeding he did schedule treatment.

Me too Sandi but in all reality I am not going to hold my breath! Going for treatment tomorrow "Rhogam". I work tonight and than I'm off for 2 days. My treatment time is scheduled for 0830 so I will probably just go straight from work. Trying to decide if I'll bring a change of clothes so I'm not going in uniform. (doesn't really look good when I show up in my scrubs).

I will spend my first day off probably laying around popping tylenol and benadryl. On a side note have a gathering to go to Wednesday night so by than I am hoping I'll be feeling better.

Does that mean you travel to and from home in scrubs? We're not allowed out of the hospital in scrubs. I can't imagine not changing.

Good luck with your treatment. Hope you get the rituximab eventually.

Ann I work in a Retirement setting which my job is lots of assessments and setting up for the day shift since I work nights. If I was working in a hospital I would probably not leave the facility without changing. I did bring a change of clothes in case of my uniform getting dirty.
