dru - can't just get rituxan have to see the doctor I had when I did the rituxan study still waiting for them to contact him to set up an appointment.

Great news! This doctor did the usual chit chat about treatment options and getting a splenectomy. I explained some of the treatments i've used and what works best. Than explained my reasons for not getting he said ok you did your research end of subject. Commented I may just know a little more than him. Than suggested I do my research again if I was his sister he would recommend splenecty.

I explained that pred gave me hives and IVIG gave me the massive migraine followed by uncontrolled vomiting. He said well those are out! I said Rhogam/ winrho is my usual treatment he said Ok we can do that I've given that many times IM in the arm. At that point I said no it usually goes in via IV drip or push. He said the dose is 300mg I said I believe it's 3,000mgs. At that point he said let me review your files see what you were given. Reviewed my file even consulted an oncologist who confirmed. Came back and said your right 3,000mgs of Rhogam/ winrho we will order that up right away.

Even Better News! he pretreated me with benadryl and tylenol. They started the IV gave me my meds. He signed the orders to discharge gave me the following verbal orders!

Do not hit your head, get into a car accident or fall down. Go straight home and rest. I asked if tripping was ok he said NO. They gave me a copy of my lab results and stated they would fax my hemo a copy of the report and treatment given.

So I am now at home with my feet up watching a movie! Wish all emergency doctors were like him!

PS: lab results something new on it that had both the nurse and myself laughing.

Platelets - results - < 5

Morphology Scan

PLT Estimate - results - Markedly Decreased ... Never saw this before! Considering the normal rang is 150-400 I'd say they are Markedly decreased! lol

OMG your story is a perfect explanation of why we have to be on top of things with our doctors. If you had just been a compliant patient, who the doctor DOES THINGS TO rather than a patient who participates in choosing your own treatment, you would have gotten who knows what, maybe 300 mg of winrho in the arm.

I'm glad your doctor wasn't such a jerk that he wouldn't acknowledge that you knew things, and that you ended up with the right treatment.

Well I felt like a truck hit me yesterday but today better. I'm nights tonight and tomorrow night. I was thinking Thursday for a count that way I know where I stand before my Brownie sleep over and local Santa Clause Parade that were marching in!

I really am non-compliant! Because I'm sure when ever I get a new count it won't make doctors happy!
