Hey guys I have a question I was on nplate for a year when I had a stroke after recovery and no other treatments working I have been back on nplate for a year now again my question is shouldn't I have received a bone marrow biopsy by now? I recently changed drs because mine left the country :( i have asked my new doc a couple times and he said if my blood work changes in anyway he will. Is this normal? I thought it was supposed to be done yearly any helps appreciated thanks :)

No, they look at the blood on a slide under the microscope and if any cells change shape or look odd then they will worry but if all is normal then it's fine. It sounds as if they are keeping a close watch so no need to worry.

What are your counts? Friend of mine is in a similar position. She had blood clots while on nplate and stopped it but has now started again. It's a balancing act and must be worrying.

My counts are all over the place I get anywhere from 1.5 mg-2mg per kilo when I had my stroke I was at 3 and my dr was trying to get my platelets tI a normal range which succeeded I was anywhere from 150 -699 which caused the stroke I now go anywhere from 20-100 depending on the week as long as I'm over 20 I'm comfortable doing whatever because without any treatment I would be in the hospital with counts of 1. Nplate is good but I'm still scared to death of it

I was aiming at counts between 30 and 50 but after a couple of years counts started going above 100 so I have stopped using it. Will see where I am next week but I'm sure I'm okay, so not going to start again at least for a while. I too used to have counts of 1 without treatment but not now it seems.

K24-- did you ever have blood in your urine following Nplate injection? Perhaps with just the initial injection? My wife got her first ever inject Sunday afternoon and by the middle of the night was having blood in her urine.

I'm just curious about what her count was upon injection. I was on Nplate for about 6 months with the only side effects being achiness.

According to the other thread, her count was under 5 so blood in the urine will be from the low count and not the injection. Also Nplate takes 4 or 5 days to start working after the injection so you need patience. Even at my worst, I only ever had blood tests done weekly on Nplate. No point in doing them more frequently.

Yep, I think she was at 2 when she got the first injection on Sunday afternoon.

Yes unfortunately you will have to be patient for Nplate to kick in. Do you know what the dose was?
