Hi Marosa,

I have gone from 1µg/kg to 3µg/kg in just under a year. An incompetent hematologist covering the regular doc one week skipped the 2µg/kg injection one week with the result that platelets fell from 181/nL to 13/nl the next week. This occurred five months into Nplate therapy. He evidently disregarded Amgen's dosing instructions in the insert.

My hematologist wants to terminate Nplate injections of 3µg/kg weekly after one year of therapy, so I have the same question as you. Googling "Nplate cessation remission" failed to find anything worthwhile. Amgen's patient support remains noncommittal with the basic recommendation that it is the physician's prerogative. Amgen's rep did repeat the insert warning about falling platelets upon terminating treatment, but that was it.

Based on the hematologists' performance so far, that idea is not reassuring. I would be very interested in your results.
