N-Plate Side effects? was created by amberyard
I had my first N-plate yesterday, counts at 14K. I have an headache, joint pain, muscle pain and legs hurt like crazy. I should have taken off work today, the Tylenol I took last night is gone now and I have none on me. Just want to know what other people have felt when they are on this.???

I always have lower back pain. One of the doctors at pdsa recommends Celebrex to his patients. He also said there is something in Benadryl that is supposed to help. May I ask what doseage you are on. My symptoms seem worse, the higher the dose.

I haven't had any side effects but I have to warn you that it can take months to get stable on Nplate. It took me 7 months!

They said he was going to put me on a higher dose, something like 2mg/per kg? and normal is 1mg/per kg. I already feel better, more energy... He also said he was putting me on a higher dose so hopefully I wouldn't have to get it weekly but bi-weekly. Plus we are waiting on the ok with the financial aid department. I got the ok for the first once because it was an emergency.

I was on 5 mg/per kg. The original hematologist only had me on 3.7 and I couldn't get above 22,so he gave up on it. The specialist tried the high dose and it got me into the 100's. after 2 months I went up to 385, at which they lowered the dose by 75%. I was at 129 last week. Hopefully it can be reduced further. I would caution you on the bi-weekly idea. I have tried that twice, both times around 250, so they didn't want to give it to me because of guidelines. Well on day 10 both times I crashed and was at 4. However, I seem to be very refractory compared to other peoplei I have talked to.

If we do it bi-weekly it is because of cost. Still haven't got approved with the hospitals charity's care program.

You might want to ask about Amgen's program. They are able to cover a lot of it.

As of yesterday I got approved for 100% charity care with NorthSide Forsyth Hospital. Thank god!! Its new is the system and will have to call back next week to get my letter so I can send it to some other doctors. This is a big weight lifted from our shoulders.
