I wanted to make this post just as a warning to everyone who is taking Promacta or thinking about starting it... ask your hematologist to test you for lupus anticoagulant before taking the drug.

I started taking Promacta on June 5th. On June 16th, I was in the hospital with a dural sinus venous thrombosis (aka a blood clot in my brain). It was determined to be from a perfect storm of being lupus anticoagulant positive and on Promacta. I don't want anyone else to deal with what I've dealt with the past few weeks so if you can stop it before it happens, the better for you.

I'm sorry to hear that. Thanks for posting. The Lupus Anticoagulant is one of the antibodies for Antiphospholipid Syndrome (APS, for those who do not know). I hope your recovery was not too bad.

Just wondering, what were your counts when you had the clot?
