I went in for my CBC after being on Promacta since 5/25 starting at 50mg. I was on 50mg for 10 days, counts went up to 268k, then the dosage was lowered to 12.5mg. So, after 15 days on 12.5mg, my count is now 800k!!!! I was expecting an decrease, not increase. My dr now is telling me to take 1 "baby" aspirin a day. So, now, I'm on the other side of the fence...instead of worried about bleeding, I'm worried about a blood clot. My dr says he sees it all the time with his other patients, and I won't have one. I asked him if I can take Promacta every other day, and he told me he tried this with his other patients to only see them crash to below 10k again.

Has anyone here taken Promacta every other day? Thanks!

I know!! I just want to stabilize my count. I wasn't expecting the count to be normal...but then, I never expected it to be high!

I know what you mean! I guess it's good that you are responsive though. I don't know how the pills come.... Could you do 6.25 a day or is it in capsule form?

Promacta comes in a 12.5mg, 25mg, 50mg, 75mg, and 100mg pill. The 12.5mg pill is VERY tiny. I don't know how one will be able to cut the pill in half.

I'm happy that I'm responsive to Promacta, but now I'm worried about the high platelets. All of these years, I'm on the other end...so it's game changer for me.
