I will be starting Promacta tomorrow, at 50mg. How soon should I see a raise in my count? Thanks!

if memory serves correct, i think "they" told me 4 weeks was the norm, in my case i did 6 weeks of 50mg - didnt work, 2 weeks after upping it to 75 it started to work. Now, 50 is almost too much, but 25 may not be enough. so im experimenting a bit.

I've been on Promacta for 5 days now. So far, I have major fatigue, nausea, and water retention. I can deal with everything, except for the nausea. I hope it gets better. I will have my CBC on Tuesday...that should be interesting especially since tomorrow is my last day of steriods.

Depending on how long you have been on steroids some of the side effects could be from predniisone withdrawal. I always get major fatigue when tapering off prednisone.

Slammed,

Getting off steroids for me was awful. I was so tired for weeks. Could barely stay awake .in the car. The water retention has stopped after two months. My face looks much less bloats. I've lost 3 pounds so far
. I'm not Promacta but I'm on Nplate. It makes me hyper and shaky, maybe a little less hungry and ard hard to sleep the night of injection

I've been on Promatca about 9 months. Other than mild heartburn the first week, no side effects. I saw results in about 10 days and after 4-6 weeks I went over 200 and we dropped the dose from 50 mg to 25 mg.

Slammed, I took Promacta for 3 years. The best thing I found to minimize the side effects was to take the dose around 1:00am, then go back to bed.

I take Promacta right before bed. From the moment I wake up and get out of bed, I feel nauseous throughout the whole day. The pharmacist just called this morning for a following up. I told her about my nausea, she is going to call my dr and see if I can get some anti-nausea meds.

I'm sorry that you are having that reaction. That is the worst feeling. I hope you feel better and that it helps your counts!

After 10 days of taking Promacta, my platelets went up from 40k to 268K! This is without any prednisone! I have NEVER been over 120k before! So, this is such exciting news. Because of the nausea and fatigue, my dr is lowering my Promacta from 50mg to 12.5mg. I hope to be around 50k with 12.5mg...
