Rituxan complete now we wait was created by jaysbeaker@verizon.net
Hello,

My wife received her final dose of Rituxan last wednesday, and has thus been responding to it quite well. Before her Rituxan treatment her count was 33 on 60mg Prednisone. After her first infusion a week later her cout was 113, 2nd infusion her count was 150, 3rd infusion her count was 200, no labs drawn before her 4th infusion. Today was her first follow up after her final Rituxan dose and her count dipped back to 145. Looks like the Dr is going to stop her Prednisone taper for now and take another lab next week to see if the Rituxan is doing its job, then start to taper by 5mg until they feel she's out of the woods (for now).

Again, I know everyone is different however, is it normal to see such a swing in counts over a short period on strong medication when she was showing a good response to start?

Just looking for some words of encouragement.

God Bless

Jay

Jay,

Anything can, and does, happen with ITP. Of course there is a lot of reason to hope! Just like counts can go down, they can also go back up.
