A major flare - up after only 11 months of success from rituxin. Platelets crashed to 1000 and haven't budged upward for the past 4 days. Introductory dose of N-Plate administered 2 days ago. Drs suggesting a double dose next week. Severe petechiae on back of hands as well as ankles and legs. Mouth sores and nose bleeds. I'm pretty upset and frustrated now. Have to wait 2 more days to see Dr on Monday. 40 mg decadron is all I'm taking now. Help!

If you take decadron with the Nplate you won't know if the Nplate is working. It's really best not to do anything else with the Nplate and wait and see if you get a response first. Also it takes 4 or 5 days for an Nplate injection to start to take effect so if after 4 days it has done nothing then it could well be too early to tell.

Why don't you try Rituxan again? Several of us have gotten much longer remissions the second time. My first time was 9 months, now I'm going on 3.5 years of remission.

I thought the decadron was supposed to suppress my immune system while the nplate would increase my platelet production. After 4 days nothing has changed. Platelet count still @ 1000, bloody runny nose, bruising etc. Going back tomorrow for second (stronger this time)dose of N-Plate.
