Has anyone used nplate with no problems? In dec2010 I started nplate in oct 2011 I had a stroke due to my dr aiming my counts to be at 200 so after a year of recovering after I lost use of my left arm I'm back again with nplate had my first dose Friday and I'm paranoid all the time it's going to happen again. Can anyone give me any positive stories? I'm so paranoid all the time it's driving me nuts and I don't like to talk to my family about it they worry enough already

Hi there, I've been on nplate for the last 9 months or so. My haemo tempers my dose depending on my count, and is only prepared to let my count get to 150 or so. You must discuss your concerns with your doctor, let him/her know how worried you are. Best of luck am sure all will go well.

I agree, hopefully he would start with a very low dose and work his way up to a plateau of 50k if that's possible.

Have you been checked for other clotting disorders, like antiphospholipid syndrome. I'd want to be if I were you. In fact I've been on Nplate for 3 years and asked to be checked for APS twice in that time simply because I think it's a sensible precaution to take.

I have been on N/Plate for about 6 months. Seems I've run the full course of treatment with ITP. Diagnosed by accident last Fall with a routine physical. Count was 1,000. Did the three day hospital routine to get me back in a safe range with platelets. Did the Prednisone, didn't work! Did the Retuxin, didn't work! Did the Spleen removal, didn't work! Now we are doing N/Plate at a level 2 dosage every two weeks and keeping in the 150,000 to 200,000 range. I'm a little frightened that if this stops working what else? If it has severe side effects what next? Truthfully I'm scared. Never been sick for 62 years and now this.

I've been on it for 11 months. My doc is weaning me off because of the minimal long term studies and due to my age and fertility status. We shoot for being above 50,000 and lateley any time I get above 100,000 we will drop the dose. Recently I have started becoming resistant to it but we are weaning off any way.

Oh Keli, I completely understand! I have "baby fever" so bad that I have started having dreams about being pregnant. I was diagnosed literally 3 months after getting married. Talk about "in sickness and in health, for rich or for poor!" I haven't quit working but going to the doctor once a week is KILLING me... You are right, it could be worse but it's nice to have a forum we can go on and talk to people who are going through this too. Best of luck dear
