IVIG after 72 hours, a failure? was created by tgurin12
It has been 72 hours since my treatment with IVIG and I have seen no response (after 48 my platelets had actually gone down to 2K). Has anyone seen an increase after 72 hours after no response previously or is this pretty much a failure? (last time I saw a 100K increase in 24 hours)

I'm sorry nobody has answered you, probably because nobody can know! IVIG was judged to be a failure for me too. My count rose from 4 to 24 in a couple of days and then back down to 4 a few days later. I'd guess that your count is not going to go up but stranger things have happened with ITP.

From what I have seen over the years, you should have had a response within 72 hours. However, strange things happen so you never know.

Yeah, pretty much thought so. Full of petechaie and bruises still (no change except finally a slow down in my period after 7 days) so thinking I'm going to get the 0-4K mark after a 12K mark on Friday after infusion of platelets. He said we were going to do Rituxican. Very scared. Have been avoiding doing it, because of side effects.
