What side effects come with promacta ??

My hematologist recently gave me promacta I havent taken it yet because I read on the side effects and they seem pretty severe. I had a bad experience with prednisone So my doctor took me off of it . I am tired of these side effects from these medications, it's stressful and it does not make me feel like myself . Has anyone had any side affects from promacta ?

Most don't have any side effects from Promacta. The most common for those who do get something, is headache. But didn't I just read you say that Promacta didn't work? Does your doctor think you've taken it when you haven't?

The reason that splenectomy is going out of fashion is because of the new drugs of which Promacta is one. They work for a high percentage of patients, have no or minimal side effects because they work in a completely different way from prdnisone and the other drugs we've used in the past. You should give it a go.

I recieved the promacta two days ago , I meet with my doc tomorrow , I will inform him then that I didn't take the promacta

It's one of the best drugs to try. Best chance of success and fewest side effects so why not give it a go?

I was on Promacta for about 18 mths. No problems until I developed blood clots
in both lungs due to Promacta. Age, I (71) believe, played a role in this event.

Have been on Promacta since early 2012 combined with Prednisolone (tapering to 15mg and 10mg alternate days) and 200mg Danazol. Counts have been above 250,000 with no side effects from Promacta, though side effects from Prednisolone tapering is quite bad but tolerable. Hope Promacta works for you, April.

Theoldone, you mentioned that you developed blood clots in lungs. How did you find out, what are the symptoms that made you find out?
