High Lymphocytes Count was created by angel
Hi,

I've been diagnosed with ITP a year ago and am currently on a combination of Pred, Danazol and Eltrombopag (very low dosage). Platelet counts have been stable and good the past 6 months between 200-280. I am in the process of tapering down Pred very, very slowly. However, my doctor noticed that on some bloodtest results throughout the year, my Lymphocytes level are higher than normal and within range in some. He suggested doing further tests on that, but before that, I would appreciate any advise or thoughtsfrom anyone here who shares the same condition. Would anyone know if any of the medications I'm taking has any effect on Lymphocytes level?

Thank you.

Angel

Absolutely. Steroids cause the lymphocytes that are usually hidden away, stuck on endothelial walls and so on, to come out into the blood stream and so get counted along with the ones that are normally there. It's called demargination. So it is normal to have a high white count when on steroids. You should see it go down as you taper. I'd wait until you're off the steroids before worrying.

Thanks Ann for reply. Feel much better now and will see how counts go while at lower dose of Pred.
