Erythromycin treatment of itp

Erythromycin treatment of itp was created by foursons
Has anyone else tried Erythromycin? My son, who has had ITP for nearly 4 years, needed treatment for acne. We decidedd to try oral Erythromycin after the recent report in the PDSA website about improvement in platelet count in a few patients treated with erythromycin. He last received IVIG 6 weeks ago and his paltelets were on their way down from 200,000 to 65,000. His platelets have never gone up on their own, but after 2 weeks on erythromycin instead of continuing to fall they have gone up to 95,000. It may be a fluke, but after so long with never seeing a rise without IVIG, maybe we are on to something? My son had very treatment resistant ITP for 2 years (counts less than 10K and no results with steroids, ivig, winro, N plate, dapsone, chinese herbs, bloodwell, vit D and C, etc.) then he had a splenectomy and became treatable with IVIG. That was an improvement, but not a cure, so maybe this will give him another boost. 95,000 is a miracle for him.

Not really sure but maybe there is an infection there some where and the Erythromycin is helping the infection thus helping platelets.
It is strange though that different medication effect different people, I had a huge dose of antibiotics in June last year for H-pylori and my platelet count dropped dramactically, now on Methotrexate for RA and a side effect of these is a low platelet count but my counts are the best they have ever been, in the low 200 and they are usually in the 90's.
I guess time will tell with your son but I hope the rise continue.
