Not me. Far more likely I'd guess, to be the fact that you have no spleen. I can't think how Nplate might cause such a thing.

I'm spleenless, and on Nplate and, as Ann said here, having no spleen can increase susceptibility to pneumonia, colds and flu, and then makes it tougher to fight off those infections. There is no evidence, so far that Nplate decreases the immune system.

Your doctor SHOULD be concerned. My Dr. said that with no spleen, it is imperative I keep current on flu and pneumonia vaccines, and if I ever get a fever along with a cough or respiratory problems, to call him immediately to assess if I should start on antibiotics.

I would ask every doctor that comes your way if there is anything else because surely it cannot be good to experience Phumonia (spelling) 4 times in that space of time. I have only experienced phumonia twice in all 43 years of my life. Once as a baby as they identified I had a hole in heart and once about 6 year ago as septicemia developed and hadn't taken proper action due to not having a spleen.

Yes, I would recommend you ask every doc that comes anywhere near you and state your concerns. There are other treatments which they can try. Just keep asking every doc until you get the answer you would like to hear. Ask every nurse too because they speak to docs too and may be aware of something the doc isn't. Are you in telephone contact with the hemo team? If you are 'brave' enough you could ring them now and begin to change your treatment if that is what you would like to happen?

It could be all you need to do is state your case the once or you may need to keep asking them. Communication doesn't always seem a strong point in my experience but they are often quite willing.

I feel for you for whilst I don't remember my childhood experience I do clearly remember my adulthood experience and yes I be looking at ways to avoid it again if I was you, that is perfectly normal.

I never had nplate but do know that each treatment can react different to every individual on them. Hope you feel stronger soon. Thinking of you
