Slow Rituxan response! was created by debbied
It's been eight weeks since my last Rituxan treatment. Yesterday's count was 63,000. I know that's a perfectly respectable count but I expected to be at least 100,000 by now. Any other Rituxan slow performers out there?

Stayed around 30/40 until week 9 and jumped to 280. I know it's hard, but give it a little more time before accepting defeat.

Question, they didn't give you prednisone as a back up to the Rituxan, I know that both times I had rituxan treatments they gave me prednisone also. But yes it can be a slow process. Patience... :)

MCTD (Lupus/Raynauds), Sjogrens, ITP
Plaquenil 400 mgs
Prednisone 10 mgs
Imuran 50 mgs

Not everyone responds to pred - didn't help me at all - just had the wonderful side effects.

It took several weeks after the last dose for my counts to rise.
Be patient.
Prednisone is not my friend!

never tried it but I do understand the patience game and the game of not expecting. If they are happy with the count then we to learn to accept it. You are out of any danger. They are watching and waiting for now?

Each one of us is different. For the last 15 (of diagnosis) years post splenectomy they gave me pred and ivig. I have a new consultant and this year he has only given me pred and am pretty certain it is why it dropped 3 times in the last year rather than once in the last 3 years.... but patience is the name of the game whilst he sorts it out in his mind. I am in no danger and trust them. It can be hard and I am speaking of lifetime experience.

Can be hard to get away from the numbers and think about effects. The effects don't always match the numbers as I discovered last week with only little sign and down to just 4. Luckily after an overnight stay was allowed home. Yes I do wonder when the next time will be especially as this consultant seems to be doing things different. But one does adjust and adapt to it and take each day and live.... Good to ask questions and hope you feel happier soon;)
