Promacta - waiting was created by gayk4
My daughter, age 20, had bone marrow biopsy yesterday and saw gastroenterologist anticipating start of Promacta. Her ALT yesterday was up: 103, so gastroenterologist wants to do an ultrasound of the liver (she had Hep C, negative since 1999 following treatment). They are going to repeat the liver panel next week (hopefully it will be normal, becauses I don't think they can start the Promacta till then). My question is, would it make sense to check the spleen also when they do the liver ultrasound? She is pretty sore today from the biopsy, hopefully that will be better in a few days.

Sorry, I see you didn't get a response in time. Ultrasounds of the spleen are not necessary with ITP so if they didn't, no harm done.

I did get ahold of the doctor and he said not necessary to check spleen. We are repeating the liver panel on 5/2 - hopefully all will be in normal range so we can get on with this.
