I woke up with a bloody nose Saturday and it stopped but got so tired by mid day I went to get a CBC at local doc in box for piece of mind. Platlets were at 6,000 but minimal bruising. Off to ER.
ER could not start and IV as my blood would not come out. Stange ....counts recheck next day at was at 11,000.
Hemo suggested Rituxan. This is not my regular hemo as my regular is at a hospital I will not go to.

Had the Ritauxan and counts at 68,000 this morning. I had slight reaction itchy, strange bout of sneezing over and over and overnight BP dropped to 95/50 and pulse of 42.

Later in day released home.

I set up the follow up Ritaxan treatments with my regular hemo ( been with him for 10 years) and just got a vm from the hospital I left a few hours a go asking me to go elsewhere in the future should my platlets drop again.

I guess since I did not follow up with her. Anyone ever have this happen?
I am sure the hospital would not like to hear this and I am pretty offended.
This hemo is gung ho and removing my spleen and my regular hemo is not.

I prefer the close hospital near my family and one that does not charge for parking.

Any thoughts on addressing this? I am now freaking out thinking If my platlets drop this hospital will refuse to help.

I think the only time a hospital has the right to refuse service to anyone is if they abuse the staff or endanger staff or other paitents. I would be looking into getting some legal advise if thats bascially what they are saying, although i am a little confused as to why you have a hemo and you don't go to the hospital where he works for emergency care no matter how much u may dislike that hospital. If thats the case, maybe u need to look at getting yourself a new doc at a hospital your actually willing to go to for treatment and emergency care. It would be easier for one doctor to see you all the time so they know your history etc and so you get continuity with care.

I know it seems stupid to see one hemo yet go to a different hospital for treatment.
The Hemo's at the hospital close to my home have a "remove your spleen" mentality for all treatments and I would like to go through the others prior to surgery. The doctors are not actual members of the hospital staff but have rights to treat patients at that hospital.

This hemo that recently treated me in the hospital has a practice in an adjacent parking lot to one hospital but does not have rights there and actually goes to the hospital I prefer.

Also the downtown hospital that my hemo practices at is a state hospital and does not have private rooms. I once had a patient dies in the bed next to me in a shared room along with the entire family saying goodbyes and I cannot go through that one again.

I am sure the hospital whos motto is good help to those in need would not follow the doctors recommendation to seek treatment at another hospital. :woohoo:

I guess my first question is why you do not want to use the hospital that your hemo/onc MD is on staff at? Being a healthcare professional myself with ITP I firmly believe that you are in the drivers seat with regards to your health. I think that the MD who told you not to come back is quite unprofessional and that you are fortunate to have found that out. I would suggest that you talk with your MD about your concerns. You don't need that worry hanging over your head
