I went in for Rituxan again on Tuesday and Wednesday as my count dropped to 18K. They gave me a Benydryl injection along with an anti-anxiexy injection because I was so nervous. They kept the drip real slow thats why it took two days. But all in all I had no problems! I have a mild head ache and a little bit of a cough but thats it! I hope to find that this helps my count!!! Next week they are going to try and increase the rate so we can get it done in one day, we will see!! Good luck everyone and stay positive!!! Anyone going for the first time Id ask for the Benydryl in the injection form since they didnt do that the first time I think it would have helped me then!!! And if your nervous the other stuff put me to sleep so I couldnt be scared!!! Bring with books to read or movies to watch if you dont think you want to sleep all day!! Good Luck to all!!

Hello Julie,
I am so glad your Rituxan went well this time. Good Luck and lot's of stable platelets!!!
My husband had Rituxan 1/11, he also was very anxious, he got a anti anxiety med which helped him to relax. His platelets have been in the normal range over the last weeks. We are very thankful.

Benedryl used to be part of the Rituxan pre-med protocol. Nearly everyone had it...can't imagine why they'd even do Rituxan without it.

I'm glad your infusion went better this time, Julie.

Going for my second Rituxan infusion tomorrow. Should be a lot faster than my first. Got a platelet count earlier this week and my count has been stable for one whole week!! Whooppee! I would lose up to 100k in a week, so stable is soooo goood. Hope it's the Rituxan working. Wish me luck.

Had my first Rituxan treatment on Friday and besides getting a little flushed it went fine. 6 hours and two 15 min. drips of Benadryl took care of the flush and execpt for a little diziness that night and a little discomfort in my muscles I was fine.

Next one is Thursday. Hope it goes as well.
So when do they usually check your platlet count after the treatments? After the first? the second or guess it depend on the Dr.?

Just curious. Thanks for everyone's posts it made me not be nervous of the treatment.

Take care!
Hugs
Danielle

Hi, Danielle. I had my blood tested the day before each of my Rituxan treatments. One thing to remember is that everything related to ITP is different for all of us. Good luck with your treatments!

I have now had three Rituxin treatments the last two went off without any problems we were done in about six hours. The only side effects I have are being tired and a head ache. My doctor checks my count before each treatment. I will have my count checked again on Monday when I see my doctor again. I have a lot of other problems right now from the Prednisone so im trying to get off of it!!! My last count was 357K so not sure what the rise is from if its from the extra steriod injections during Rituxin or if its from the Rituxin itself!!! Hope everyone else is having good luck!!

Great news, Julie! I'm glad you were able to keep going with Rituxan (unusual in a case where someone had an anaphylactic reaction).

I had my first infusion of Rituxan today and it went for about 6 hours and i had i think an hour of fluids with panadol and also some panadol orally as well before hand and then a quick flush of fluid after and i did feel a little stuffed up and fluish for a bit while it was going through and am feeling a little discomfort with muscle pain as well like you would with the flu. I have my next infusion next friday.
