Best time to take Prednisone

Best time to take Prednisone was created by sunshine
I've been on 20 mg Prednisone for about 2 months and of course, have side effects. I usually take it first thing in the morning (around 8 o'clock), but was wondering if I took it later if the side effects would start while I'm sleeping. I'm not worried about staying awake, because I've been taking Lunesta since I started the Prednisone. I really hate these pills and they are not really helping. As soon as I get off of them, I am NEVER taking them again!

The body naturally makes it in the morning - I was told to take it then, so I took it with breakfast.

Are you tapering?

sunshine, never say never because it will come back to bite you in the bum :)
It did me - before ITP I had to go on prednisone for serum sickness and at that
time I said I'll never take that nasty stuff again. Fast forward a couple years and there I was on 60mg because of ITP.

Ideally, it should be taken in the morning. What side effects are you having? If you had to, you could probably split the dose 10 and 10.

Like Melinda said, never say never. I used to hate it, now I can't function without it.

Thanks, Melinda and Sandi. The reason I said that is because this is my second run on Prednisone and it was horrible. I started out at 160 MG and then tapered. This time the dose is less, but it's not working. My counts are dropping every week. I've had Rituxan once and it didn't last long, but now am ready to give it another try. But I know what you mean! You never know!
