Been wondering:

What if you're driving somewhere, and have a medical emergency. You call 911, the EMT's arrive, and you need to go the hospital. What happens to your car and your stuff in the car? Is it impounded / towed? To where?

I would imagine that the police on the scene would make arrangements with a local tow company. Your family would probably have to get your belongings out of your car after they got over the shock of the incident.

If the vehicle can be parked safely on the side if the road, they could even leave it there all locked up for a family member to pick up later even

When my husband was in his car accident they took the stuff on his person and the EMT's kept it to give to me at the hospital. His van, which was totaled, was towed to a local lot that was locked up until we could get there to get his stuff out of it. I think that's the procedure for accidents. Now, if your car isn't in a wreck they may just leave it on the side of the road, locked up until someone can get there. I just dunno!

I asked the question because I'd gotten a severe nosebleed on the way to work a while ago. I pulled to the side of the freeway and tried to stop the bleed. After 10 minutes, and a ruined suit and tie, I began to feel woozy. :S

Rather than call 911, I foolishly decided to drive 20 miles back to my local hospital: Not knowing what would happen to my car if I couldn't be treated right there at the scene made me feel "out of control". I had my guitar and amp in the car too, further adding to the chaos.

So now, I'm driving along, head tilted back, pinching my nose with my left hand, and trying to both steer and shift (manual transmission) with my right, looking like some sort of mad, bloody zombie behind the wheel.

It took several hours to stop the bleed, and 2 days in the hospital to get my count out of the gutter, but a least I knew where my car was!

I understand your concerns for your car and possessions in it, but I have always been told by my mother if your having a nose bleed stop as soon as u can and if u can't stop it, call for help, it is better to pull over and get help then to drive while holding your nose and you wouldn't really be stopping it cause your trying to concentrate on driving and then they might be taking u to the hospital morgue, not the ER for treatment if u know what I mean. If you pull your car over to the side of the road and lock it up, someone can always come get it later and if someone breaks in, your possessions are replaceable, but your not
