I was diagnosed with ITP about three years ago. For the past year my platelets have stayed in a very safe range: 70-90's. Today I had a nosebleed, so I went to the lab right before they closed. My count was 93 (yay), but there was a new section in my results called "Red Blood Cell Morphology." These were the results:
Platelets,BLD,QL, MAN CT- Decrease
Platelests, morphology- Large
Ovalocyltes, BLD, QL, Light Microscopy- 1+

Obviously, I have contacted my doctor and will wait for her official opinion. But while I wait, can anyone calm my nerves? What are ovalocytes?
