Hi everybody,

I like the new digs! I haven't been around in a long while as my hobby which will hopefully soon become a business occupies a lot of my time.

Since it's been so long I'll give a quick run down about me. I'm 38 years old and I was diagnosed with ITP in June of 2002. I've had my spleen out, prednisone doesn't work and IVIG works but only keeps my levels up at a decent amount for 1-1/2 to 2 weeks. The last IVIG infusion was about 2-1/2 years to prepare me for surgery to have endometriosis(sp?) removed. My counts sit around 3-5K which really sucks and I try not to let it bother me but with the daily reminder with those little red spots it's hard not to think about it.

Anyway, it's nice to be back here,

Kelly

wb Kelly. Life is going pretty well for you then? I'm glad to hear that! I'm 46 and was diagnosed in February 2010. Prednisone didn't work for me either. Did Nplate for a bit and it worked great, to good even, brought my counts up over 350. Don't like the side effects though. Had a round of Rituxan. I think it worked for a bit but my counts are starting to drop again. We'll see.
How come you quit coming here?

What side effects did you experience with Nplate? How long were you on it? Did your counts drop really low after you stopped taking it? My hematologist recommended that I consider Nplate.

The NPlate brought my counts up really, really high, which isn't good because NPlate causes your bone marrow to make more platelets and new platelets are really big and very sticky and can cause clots. My biggest side effect is the joint pain. I've been off NPlate for over 6 weeks now and still have the joint pain. Some days are better than others. I didn't have the drastic drop because I was on Rituxan at the same time. I believe the Rituxan kicked in so my count didn't drop to much, though it is dropping now.
