IVIG was created by RedGirl
Hi

Last week I had 2 days worth of IVIG as my count dropped to 1. Just wondering ( as im new to this ) what to expect when I go back to see my conultant next week. Does IVIG normally only work for so long? Will my count start dropping after a certain amount of time? Could this make my counts go up indefinitely?

I was under the assumption that this was just a quick fix but a nurse told me that I could respond to this and my coount could keep going up??

Thanks

Hi RedGirl--

Read the Treatments section accessible thru the home page--I think counts from both IVIg and WinRho peak (for most people) at 10-14 days from infusion; IVIg results are often more immediate, I think. Some folks never need it again (very small #) but most get a few weeks of safer counts before the numbers start dropping. That Treatments page is really a must-read, and with that info under your belt, you'll be familiar with all your options, and the docs and your CBC's won't surprise you.... Ann, Caitlin's (23) Mom

That's what Ann mentioned. You can go to the top of this page, right above the photos there are things you can click on, the 3rd from the left is Treatments - you can click on Conventional and find IVIg.

Everyone responds differently. It could last a few days to a few weeks, on average. A very small number of people have no response and a very small number of people get a longer lasting result. It's not known to cause remissions.

Good luck - can't wait to hear about your response!
