Have you ever had a ghost bruise?? was created by Michelle
This ITP thing is so weird.
I was at 20 last week - got a bunch of little bruises all over my legs.

Well today, my daughter slipped off her skateboard in the bathroom while I was standing at the sink brushing my teeth - I know, great parenting letting her stand on a skateboard on the bathroom floor - but that's beside the point.
Anyway, the skateboard rammed into my ankle and I yelled it hurt soooooooo bad.
That was a bunch of hours ago and my ankle is even still throbbing right now as I sit here but - did I get a bruise?
NO!
How is that possible???
Not that I'm complaining, mind you.

Ghost bruises!

Could be a very deep bruise that will come to the surface or simply just heal, in time. I have no idea really, am just guessing but it will interesting to see.

I love that she was on the skateboard in the bathroom. Sound like a fun house.

That is weird, could be brusing internally which could be why it still hurts. I have done things where I thought I would get a bruise and got nothing.

that happened to me before too, even as recent as yesterday! I hit my elbow REAL hard on the door jam and expected a bruise almost instantly, especially since I have a new random bruise on my leg, but still...nothing! Weird.

Next day and still no bruise!
I don't think it's a deep-tissue thing because it hit a bony part of my ankle.

Maybe the Rituximab kicked in!
But I doubt that too - going for only my second infusion tomorrow - with a CBC so I'll get to see where I'm at.

Server, you reminded me - I whacked my arm the other day too and come to think of it, I didn't get a bruise there either.

I think my body is adjusting or something - everytime my platelets tank, I seem to have fewer and fewer bruises to show for it.
Is that a common experience?

I do have those mouth blisters popping up though - had 2 this week - are those considered more serious than a bruise?

Personally I find that if I hit an area of bone with minimal flesh and thinner skin that I do not get a bruise and I mostly have a count below 10. The thicker the skin and flesh with blood vessels the worse the bruise. I have hit my forehead and have not got a bruise there too.
