Hey guys,

I've been reading the threads for over a year now since my diagnosis. I was starting to get curious from reading the posts. It seems like there are A LOT of girls around my age on here. I was just curious as to the age of different people and how long they have been diagnosed. I am 24 and I was diagnosed a little over a year ago. I can remember my hema telling me that my age group for females was the most diagnosed age group of anyone. I find that interesting as I read posts and I keep seeing people saying they are 22, 23, and 24. I have also noticed that there are A LOT more women than men...not sure if it's just because we like to "talk about our emotions" openly on here or what. I do know that it is more common in women. Well, just wondering! Let me know how old you guys are and how long you've been diagnosed!

I noticed the same thing ... About the ages and sex things. I wonder what we have in common (besides ITP)

But I noticed my count was in the 60s 4 years ago... So I've had this since I was at least 22... maybe longer...

I was diagnosed with SLE (lupus) and ITP this January, on my 26th birthday.

diagnosed 2/2010 age 45, which by the way is entirely to old to starting this garbage! I'll be 46 this Saturday, ugh! Oh, and I'm a girl!

I was about 37 when I was diagnosed with ITP. My daughter was 23 when she was diagnosed with Graves Disease.

There are more women than men because women tend to have autoimmune disorders 80% more than men. It's believed that is true due to hormones.

I was one day shy of 48 at diagnosis, although I had had symptoms for about a month then. I spent my 48th birthday in the hospital getting IVIG.

My two cents: Officially diagnosed Feb.2004....probably had it a little longer. I am a male age 68.

I'm a male, 57 years old, and I was diagnosed 9 years ago (Hematologist said I probably had it for years prior).

I totally ignored it for a year after diagnosis, blew off the doctor appointments, then ended up in the hospital due to my own stupidity.
