You can ask me anything, I'm happy to tell you everything I experienced!
I had IVig for 2 days the week before surgery.. That got my counts up to 273! The day after surgery my counts were over 330..

So glad your home and on the mend. I'm 15 days out and feeling almost normal again. Stamina and appetite are the last bits to get back to normal. Take it easy and definitely take it slow! High platelets to you!

Hey Fran, good to hear you are feeling good!
I had a good day.. went to the pharmacy on my own.. wich felt like a huge accomplishment :P it was a long walk.. I ate more then yesterday.. and my moms soup was great!! And ate a delicious salad.. wich made me feel sick but it was great when I ate it! I only had one pain killer today.. I'm in pain now but I think the pain is better then the stoned feeling I get from the pain killers..

I'm going back to school on monday.. I'm bored at home.. During the day there is nobody here so I get bored.. I think I'll just go for one or two lessons, I miss my classmates :)

Glad the surgery is behind you and that your counts are responding! I had my splenectomy about a month ago and my counts were 370k yesterday. I don't think I will ever get used to high counts!

Hey Farida,

I'm doing good today! I stopped taking pain killers yesterday, wich ofcourse leads to more pain but I'm at home anyway so I don't have to move if I don't want to and I feel a lot better without them! Not so dizzy and sick..

I went to have icecream at the beach yesterday, the weather has been great here. We went by car and once I finished the icecream I was so tired so we went back home, but it was great to be outside of the house for a while.. Today I spent most of the day reading a book in the garden and sleeping..

I'm still thinking about going to school tomorrow for just one hour.. But am not sure if I'll go.. It's an hour by public transportation so that'll mean I won't be able to get home fast if I don't feel good.. But I'm so bored in and around the house..

How are you all doing?!

Katie I'm so happy for you that your counts are still up!!

Hey Farida,

Don't worry.. He won't notice anything off the surgery and it will only take about 1.5 hour.. I had some problems waking up from the anesticia so I spent a long time in the recovery room but usually you should be back in your own room within 3 hours..
I am sure he will be fine! It's not as bad as it seems..

im in the hospital now , we went at 9:30 am after his test, and we been wating in the er until 6pm they transfered us regular room, until now with no treatment, his count is 5k , can anybody imagen that, his surgan was aout the state , they contact him to recommand another surgan, and then hema said he has to have to get his platelts at least 100k, while his surgan said he can do it even if its low and give him platelts tranfusion, they ordered the platelts and then canceled by hematoligest , this hematolgest was so roude make me upset , he is talking like he is the God , he wasn't ahuman at all , and im so worry i don't know why they put us on the oncology department, we will see what next

Hey Farida,

5k is very low.. I'm sorry your son has to go threw all this.. But I don't really see why everybody is panicing like that.. Does your son shows signs of bleeding? Cus if he isn't it sucks that his counts are low but they should just be able to treat without the whole panicing..

Without treatment my counts have dropped to 3, 6 or unmessurable.. And although my hematologist would panic about it I was never admitted to the hospital since I didn't show any signs of bleeding..

Don't worry stay calm.. Your son will be fine eventhough things aren't going as great as we'd wish atm..

Day before my surgery my platelets were 41,000 (which is super high for me normally) and the surgeon said no go. I got a treatment of IVIG which boosted them to 83,000. Day of surgery was postponed a week and by then they had dropped a tiny bit to 72,000. My surgeon was happy with anything above 50,000 so we went forward. All was so much better than I had feared. In the hospital 2 days and released with 189,000 platelets! Three weeks later I am feeling pretty much back to normal and have super high platelets. My hemotologist assures me they will eventually settle into a normal range and I go back to see him May 4th. Feeling better every day!!!

Best of luck to you!!!
