Joint Pain was created by Jojo2020
Hello everyone,

For the past two years I have noticed that every 6 to 8 weeks I get severe pain in all my joints that last for few days.
Mentioned it to my haematologist and he said it’s not related to ITP.

Does anyone else here with ITP, that also suffer cyclic flare ups of joint pain?

Best wishes,
Jojo

Hi Jojo,

I wanted to reply because I also get pretty bad joint pains regularly. They come and go, I haven’t noticed a pattern or a cycle though. It is very strange because it is only pain and no inflammation...the pain also seems to move from one place to the next on my body as if it’s radiating down to the next joint? It does not last longer than a couple of days for me personally. I have been off of any medications since September 2019 so I do not attribute my pains to that. I had been told by me hematologist that it was probably a side effect from Promacta but that is obviously not the issue for me! I hope I’m able to figure out what’s going on eventually because it’s terrible :/

Yes I have experienced flare ups like you mentionned as well, usually accompanied by some fatigue. My Hematologist said the exact same thing, that it isn't usually associated to ITP. I was convinced it was the onset of Lupus or Rheumatoid Arthritis but my antinuclear bloods tests came back negative. It remains a mystery.

I too have increased joint pain in my hips and upper legs and lower back..so much so that I can not run as fluidly as I was able to not that long ago. Jogging, running mail and parcels up to front porches were a part of my daily life. No more I guess. I have also found that when my platelet levels drop below 30 or so the fatigue sweeps over me. I had to take yesterday off because it was so bad and I knew this past weekend before my Monday CBC that my levels were down because I was so freaking fatigued and tired. I was at a level of 22 down from 166 only 5 days before....damn this condition lol
