I'm a 17 year old male, senior in high school. I was diagnosed in November 2019, and have gotten at least 4 treatments of IVIG, blood transfusions and platelet transfusions. Along with tons of IV steroids, and two different forms of oral. Tried promacta end of December, worked for about a month, and then just stopped. Going to start my 4th week of Nplate on Thursday, but I have yet to see a response to Nplate at all. I play volleyball, and because of ITP i have only been at a safe rang to play for about a month. I've consistently been below 5,000 for the last month, and between November and January ive almost always been below 10,000. Is there any hope for Nplate?

Could you perhaps look into the forum 'natural treatment methods' here and try some?

Nplate can take some time to get the right dose. There are ten different doses and it's a matter of increasing each week until something happens. Presumably you started on the first level dose and increased each week. If so you have a way to go yet before giving up.

  • Diagnosed in 2000, at 59, after being on moderately high doses of NSAIDs for arthritis. Splenectomy and rituxan both failed (2004). Did well on prednisone till summer 2018--then terrible reactions. Promacta since 11-19.

What dose of Promacta were you taking? When it stopped working for you, did you increase the dose?
