On December 18 2016 I got the flu shot and started feeling bad and had no energy and started brusing for no reason so I told my doctor she refused a CBC but gave me a b-12 shot and had me come back the next week for another so I did and felt worse, I began get more and more bruises and petichi and was bruised head to toe so I went to my dad and told him and he made me promise to call the doctor the nextday I did they did a CBC and I had itp again in Jan 2017 I had to get the flu shot and other vaccines because I was having my spleen removed on July 2017 I didnt want to but the surgeon won't do it without so my question is should I still get the flu shot after it cause me itp again because I don't have a spleen?

Maybe those with more experience can answer better, but my opinion and only my opinion, I think the flu shots can just be a best guess each year and I opt out of not taking them. Actually my husband was the one who convinced me of this and so our family does not get them.

Speaking as a spleenless ITP'er, and just for me, I don't go without getting the flu shot every year. I haven't been sick since I started getting them.

I'm glad Cindy L that you responded. I still have my spleen. There are many factors to consider.

How are your counts since the surgery? Technically since you have no spleen, you are supposed to get the flu shot annually (and the pneumococcal). Considering the low efficacy of the flu shot based on past years, I don't know how much good it does anyway. Your call.
