Where are you going in Asia?? When we lived in Hong Kong and our son was going on a school trip to India a lot of immunizations were recommended and we did not get them for him - granted I'm the ITPer in the family but one recommended was a gamma globulin and since that is what triggered my ITP we declined it & the British doctor agreed, also declined a couple others.

What you need to do is talk to your son's hematologist - what may cause a problem for one may not cause a problem for others so I'd talk to his doctor. [a tetanus booster dropped my count to the gutter, for others it doesn't cause a problem]

You just have to weigh the benefits vs risks. Here are the reported side effects from the vaccine insert.

DATA FROM WORLDWIDE POST-MARKETING EXPERIENCE
In addition to reports in clinical trials, worldwide voluntary adverse events reports
received since market introduction of Typhim Vi vaccine are listed below. This list includes serious events and/or events which were included based on severity, frequency of reporting or a plausible causal connection to Typhim Vi vaccine. Because these events were reported voluntarily from a population of uncertain size, it is not possible to reliably estimate their frequency or establish a causal relationship to vaccination.

Many vaccines list thrombocytopenia as a side effect. This one does not, however, that doesn't mean it isn't possible.
