Update on Dougie was created by alisonp
Dougie was just home for the Easter holidays and caught up with some medical appointments. He's had the other side of his nose cauterised as he's been having some problematic nose bleeds, and his count was 32 which we are both pretty pleased with. He doesn't have another appointment until the Christmas holiday unless he starts to have any problematic symptoms.
After the first couple of years I stopped hoping for normal counts and started thinking over 30 would do........and indeed it does!!!

He's come such a long way! I'm so glad that he's living such a normal life! You did a great job, Alison!

Thanks Sandi. I've never met his new haematologist but he seems like he's got a very similar approach to the bloke at the children's hospital that he used to see. I sometimes read the PDSA Facebook page and there seem to be a lot of people who have an exaggerated perception of the risk of not treating and little understanding of the risks of treatment - and that seems to mean an awful lot of over treatment is going on!
