  • Take a look on the Amgen site, I'm their "poster girl", if you will, for Nplate. It's kind of a nice video, probably tells my story as well as I could here.

Splenectomy and increased stroke risk was created by libelder
So, in the Dr. Bussell talk about fostamatinib he mentions the increased risk of stroke if you've had a splenectomy... Huh?!!? I'm looking for more info., does anyone know anything? I had mine out 31 years ago as yet another epic ITP fail, but with stroke common in my family now I'm concerned. Any advice? Here's the link to his presentation which I'm encouraged by, but this stroke info is new to me.

I had mine out in 2006 and my mom had a stroke 4 years ago. I was never worried about the possibility of having a stroke. When I was looking into my splenectomy, I didn't find anything about a relation between the two. After the surgery, I think something was posted on here about the possibility. Still doesn't make me sorry I had it, and I still don't think about having a stroke. I'm more worried about my mother having another one.
