Hey. I was diagnosed with ITP over a year ago and was wondering if anyone else has had weird AST and ALT blood levels. Mine are high. I never had any abnormal labs until I was diagnosed with ITP. My platelet count was 189,000. Any thought and ideas of what could be causing this?? Thanks, Brittany

Have you used any treatments that are known to affect liver function? Both of the TPO's can cause elevated liver tests.

Sometimes low platelets are a symptom of a problem with the liver. What are your doctors saying about the elevated tests?

Mine were high the last time I had a complete blood work up. But I also have celiac disease. This was discovered when I had my first bruising episode and we found my platelet count to be low, and I was eventually diagnosed with ITP. They also tested for celiac at that time and it came back positive. I have never had any of the digestive issues associated with celiac, but it did affect my liver. I recently had an abdominal ultra sound because of my high AST and ALT, but it came back clean. I eat gluten free and rarely drink and don't seem to have any issues.
