I started 100 mg of revolade in february and it didn't really seem to be working but kept my counts around the 20 mark which my hema and myself thought would be my threshold. Two weeks ago I was very tired and tried to do so so much work in my yard ( I don't know when to stop sometimes !) My plts dropped to 9. I had IVIG on the Friday and my blood test the following Tues the count went to 500. BTW my doc wasn't on duty that day but the other said I still had to take my revolade as usual - so I guess my body had a real double dose. My Blood test this week showed a count of 584 and I was told to cut down to 75mg of revolade. This situation has me worried as my count has only been over 100 once in 37 years of the disorder. This situation worries me - I've learnt to cope with low counts but don't know what to do about these high counts - BTW I feel OK just scared. Sorry this post is jumbled.

Christine - did you have symptoms at 9k? Sometimes it's okay to ride it out for a week or so and see if counts go up. I can understand why you'd be concerned with counts that high. Be sure to keep an eye on that; hopefully they will go down soon.

Ok first off what is revolade? Is it new? I do not blame you for being afraid of high counts not to scare you at all but on nplate I had a stroke from my counts getting up too high it was horrible I spent 6 months in physical therapy learning to use the left side of my body again and because us itpers have bigger platelets then most we can clot easy when are counts are high even now when my counts go over 150 I take a baby aspirin a couple days it may not do anything but it puts my mind at ease a little definitely talk to your dr those counts are too high

Let me guess. This is the first time you've taken Nplate/Promacta and IVIG concurrently?

If it were me, I'd be all over the baby/low dose aspirin as Kelirae mentions. Does IVIG last about a week or two with you? Kind of slowly go away, or, sudden drop off?

Weren't you getting better results with Nplate dose 5 before? Is Nplate no longer an option, or perhaps getting shots ever week has become tiresome?

Sandi, My plts dropped to 9 once before no symptons,I had the blood test then went to the Calgary Stampede with my grandson (8, 6,3) and just felt "normal tired" ! This time I had been doing a lot of work and was exhausted (was it the plts were low, or the low plts made the situation worse ? - chicken and the egg situation !!!! My Ivig the next day I was told to not miss my dose of revolade (100mgs) and that seems to be when things started to happen.
Hal, I was concerned when first told to take 100mgs revolade as all the literature said max 75mgs. It didn't seem to work for months until this situation. I have had revolade and IVIG concurently once before and there didn't seem a problem. I have also had Nplate and IVIG concurrently about twice with no problem. I was put n revolade as the Nplate didn't seem to be working. BTW I much prefer Nplate - 15 mins inconvenience once a week is preferable to no food or drink (except water) four hours before and after every day.
Kelirae, I am going to get some baby aspirin today to ease my mind.
Thank you everyone.
