Are there anyone out there who have survived with platelets in the 15 to 30 range for a long time??

Yes. I once went for months with counts in the 20's and only treated when they dropped below 10k. Many people live with counts in that range. If symptoms are minimal, it's survivable.

My son was 15k when he first diagnosed last August. This year, he is 2k more every time he does a CBC, and last lab 29K without treatment. We just need to be careful when he has nose bleeding or lose a tooth.

Yes, I've had platelets at 10-14K for 2 years and was fine. But luckily I didn't have any accidents during that time. Then for other periods of time my plates have been 6-10K. My lowest was 1K, many times I've been under 5K. That said, when they got below 10K I would always take prednisone to boost them up again. I respond quickly to prednisone and always carry it with me.

If my counts would stay above 15K I wouldn't treat, but then everyone is different. I don't tend to bleed or bruise much. Other people might be having a serious emergency at low numbers. Some people on this forum have had brain bleeds, so theres a risk- but the treatments are also risky. Part of the ITP journey is getting to know our own unique bodies and then make the best decisions for ourselves. good luck!

As long as my symptoms are minor and my counts are above 20k - I would/will not treat. - once you get to know your body/ITP you too will be more comfortable and in charge of when and how to treat.

  • I was diagnosed with ITP in March 2012. I've tried almost every treatment under the sun. Nothing really works without creating a new issue. Just taking it all one day at a time!

I have hovered around 10-20 for the last year or so. I'm not a bleeder and I rarely develop bruising without trauma. The only thing I have to deal with is the fatigue. I've learned to be more graceful, that's for sure.

Coming up 13 years, have hovered around 30, except after IVIG treatment.
Cope OK, bruise readily and tire regularly. BUT that's probably due to age . . .

I've been recently diagnosed with ITP. I've been going thru IVIG treatments. I don't really feel any different or have symptoms or just not aware if there are symptoms. I do bruise easily and sometimes feel very tired. But not sure if fatigue is a symptom.
