Hi Everyone,

My numbers normalized in late Dec/early Jan after doing four rounds of 40 mg dexamethasone for four days every two weeks. I did have one IVIG in between round 1 and 2 of the steroids. This is good.
However, since having ITP I am more tired-it has not affected work or most things in life, but some days I simply hit a wall and must rest. I am 44 and in fairly good shape, and this fatigue seems abnormal. My numbers now are usually in the 200s. I have regular bruising that takes longer to go away than in the past. The bruises are from small traumas like bumping into furniture (need to be more careful) and things like that. Also I get petechiae on my skin when it has been exposed to the sun for a longer period than usual (but it is not getting sunburned) and this has even happened on mildly tanned legs. My platelets have been normal when this occurs. Lastly, I got a itchy "vascular" appearing rash on my lower legs over some varicose veins. I am fearing another autoimmune process and I working up to getting evaluated.
In general I would appreciate your thoughts and input and specifically, if a person is in "remission" from ITP, do some of you have other non classic ITP symptoms that don't seem to fit into another disease category?
Thanks in advance.

No, that is not normal or connected to ITP. You could be developing another autoimmune disorder. Sometimes they can take a long time to develop or a long time to be diagnosed. Make notes and take pictures of your rashes. Get some baseline autoimmune tests done. It's possible that nothing will ever happen and it may not get worse, but it could.

It might be vasculitis. You need to see a doctor and get it checked out.
