Not sure if related to ITP was created by Christine
A few weeks ago I had a dark spot (size of a pea) on the bridge of my nose. I went to my fam doctor who immediatly said "This is not good" several times - whisked me off to a treatment room and blasted it several times with liquid nitrogen (Her computers were down that day and I wasn't even thinking about ITP and the "joys" that went with it) Two days later I was at a walkin clinic with huge blisters and quite a bit of pain. The doc there gave me antibiotic cream and said see my regular doc on monday (2days later) Monday I went and she said it was normal the cream was good and return later in the week. I went today and the wound is very much larger (almost down the side of my nose) - but the weeping blisters have eased up. It is infected although I have been very thorough with keeping the area clean. Here again all she could say "This is not good" several times and am now on strong antibiotics. I'm sure my plt count is above thirty as I had a CBC on tuesday and I haven't been called in. I have been on 100gms Revolade for 10 weeks. Has anyone else experienced this and would ITP have anything to do with the reaction? Her "This is not good" statements have me in a tailspin.
Sorry if this seems disjointed but I need someone to talk to. Thanks for being here.

It doesn't sound ITP related at all. Did the Dr say what the dark spot was? I wonder if she knows what she is doing. I'd check out a dermatologist.

Yes, I totally agree with Sandi. I wouldn't let anyone work on my face except a dermatologist. And if it was "not good" then why didn't your doctor do a biopsy? Last year I had a brown spot removed from my cheek, my dermatologist biopsied it off- meaning lightly sliced it off. Sent it to the lab, it was okay (sun damage). She advised me NOT to use antibiotic ointment on the biopsied area(not sure why) She wanted me to clean it with clear water and apply Vaseline as a waterproofer to keep moisture in, which would prevent scarring. Hope this is helpful and it heals soon!
Looked it up- here is why dermatologists do not recommend antibiotic ointment after a skin procedure:- they mention weeping blisters
