Revolade doesn't seem to be working was created by Christine
Just seen my hema and my count yesterday was 18. This is after 6 weeks. He upped the dose to 100 mgs and yet all the literature says 75 max. I have to have weekly CBC counts and see how it goes. Anyway I have NO symptons and yet medical professsional are getting upset. My main upset is having to take all this medication. After venting my spleen (oh I forgot I don't have one) Should I be concerned about what the professionals say or my concern of overmedication. Confused, high platelets everyone :cheer:

Hi Christine,
Has your count gone up at all over the 6 weeks on treatment? When I went back on Promacta ( after apparently losing response mid 2015) on 23/12/15 my count was about 4 . It took about 3 months on 75 mg daily to get into the teens and into the summer to be over 20. Then things speeded up and last month I reached 110. If you can, try to persevere on 75 mg. and hope for slow but steady improvement. Tell your haema my story!

The count is much the same as when I was on Nplate. Afew days after starting Revolade I had an ear infection and was on 10 days of antibiotics and wondered if that made a differnce - he said it didn't. BTW I have no symptons. Still confused ! Hig platelets everyone.

My CBC count this am was 16 and I had to go for ivig. I'm not taking my 100mgs of revolade tonight - cos it seems it will be overload in my system. The doc was at another hospital to ask any questions I had. Margaret, it took you 3mths for yours to work I was willing to plod along with low counts for that long and wait and see as it has only been 7 weeks. BTW I am still confused about everything as I've had lower counts without the "panic" from the hospital. Sorry guys this post is so disjounted but that is my state of mind at the moment. High platelets everyone. C

Christine I have been in the teens too without any symptoms other than bruising easily. My doctors now don't worry unless I get down to 4 . Then I bleed in my gums and am at risk to a mouth infection which is horrible. However as I am resistant to ivig as well as verything else except Revolade there is not much choice for me. 75 mg is the usual max dose for ITP but Revolade has also been found therapeutic for those with aplastic anaemia , when the dosage given can go above that. I had a period of about 6 months in 2015 when I seemed to lose response to Revolade at 50mg but after trying Romiplostin and Rituximab to no avail I went back on it at 75 mg .At that time I was only looking for it to get me above 4 but I was delighted when my counts kept creeping up. I would try to persuade your doctor to stick with the 75 mg for a few weeks longer. What a mystery this condition is! Even my haema says so.
