Large Platelets = 1+ and Giant PlatElets = RARE

In my latest CBC done on March 22, 2017 I go these two line items-
Large Platelets = 1+
Giant Platelets = RARE

Can anyone explain what this means?

Platelets can be larger in ITP, young platelets are generally bigger than mature ones. In ITP most of our platelets are young hence an increased MPV
