Hello, I am new to this wonderful website and recently diagnosed with ITP caused by my Lupus and have so many questions. I recently lost all taste of food and was wondering if anyone else has. My platelet count is 32 and the only drug I am taking is plaquenil but also many supplements. Is the loss of taste of food temporary? Any help/info or suggestions with this dilemma would be greatly appreciated. :)

I felt that way while I was on Prednisone, but ITP itself does not cause that.

Thanks for responding so quickly. I'm surprised to hear that, I thought I had read others who had this problem and assumed it was ITP. I'm just learning about it and trying my best to deal with it. Having to eat food that is totally tasteless is very difficult and yucky! I have taken prednisone in the past for many years to control my lupus which I have had for about 42 years, sometimes active, sometimes not. I've had just about every symptom Lupus can do to you (including blood clots and a stroke) and this ITP is the latest. Good luck to you and that you stay in remission and free of ITP.
