Morning everyone, hoping this post finds you doing well.
I have been wondering about side effects of Rituxan.
I am afraid I didn't get much time with the prescribing physician, a hemotologist.
I saw her last in October. She didn't seem to have time to answer questions even then, before the Rituxan.
So during and since the infusions there hasn't even been a phone call.
I am wondering about some problems I am having now about two weeks after my last infusion.
I am struggling with cognitive stuff. Feeling very loopy, even dizzy, loss of balance. Also feeling kind of lost mentally.
Can't remember words, thoughts even blurred vision. Also emotionally drained, kind of empty feeling like I just don't
care about anything. It kind of feels like my brain is swimming when I turn my head. I am so tired of it all I want to do is sleep or at least stay in bed. I do force myself to get up and out but it wipes me out.
So does this sound familiar to anyone? If so, how long does it go on?
I have had some painful physical stuff going on too, but think they are more Lupus related. I am kind of used to those
but not so with the cognitive stuff. It would be nice to know I'm not loosing my mind : ) !
Thanks so much, Sandy

It's hard to say, Sandy. I didn't have those side effects from Rituxan, but I do have those symptoms from Lupus.

I didn't have any side effects at all. I was told to have someone with me for the first 24 hours after the first infusion in case of a reaction, but all that did was give my husband a day off from work! I breezed through the rest of the infusion with no issues.

I will have my first infusion of Rituximab May 8. I have read so many articles but I am still uneasy. Grandson graduates from high school the week of my last treatment. There will be four days between treatment and air travel. In your best guess, based on your experience, can you give me any hope that I will be able to see him graduate?

That is a great milestone to appreciate.
Not familiar with your situation. What is stopping you from flying now, or four days after treatment?

Sue:
I worked the day after my infusions and felt fine. The only thing that could hold you back would be a serum sickness reaction which usually occurs between the third and fourth infusion, but that is very rare. You should be good to go. Most people do just fine with no reactions.
