Saw consultant today.
Count is 14 on 14mg prednisolone so can't see that is doing much good and have told her that after 2.5 years on the wretched drug I want off it.
Am going to taper by 1mg a week and have weekly bloods. Promacta will probably be the next step if count drops too low.

Good luck. I hope the taper goes well. I'm trying to taper from 15 mg's to 10 mg's after 12 years on Prednisone. I'm at 13 mg's after four months. I really want to do this because my skin rips if my dogs touch me. Not sure if that will improve or not.

Anne, refresh my memory. Did you once take NPlate but lost response while tapering from it? Is that now the reason your going to Promacta?

You've probably thought this out. You want to be well off of Pred when you start Promacta, or it doesn't matter, or ?

No I didn't taper N plate it just stopped working without any warning. I want to be off Pred because taking is worse than having low platelets. I have osteoporosis therefore a dose above 5mg a day is contra indicated. The long term side effects of steroids are endless and I want a decent night's sleep. I've tapered before whilst on N plate and started to feel human again once I got down to about 6 mg a day so that must be my normal physiological dose.
