I haven't had cataract surgery, but was just wondering what your count is? Typically doctors are overly cautious, so having an eye doctor (an opthomologist, not an optometrist) say not to worry would be promising. YOu can always get a second opinion, too.

My ophthalmologist is urging me to have laser surgery to prevent angle closure.
He says sub-normal counts wouldn't necessarily present a high bleeding risk; but when I mentioned that my count on that particular day was just 2, he did say it wouldn't be done until it rose to 50 or so.

Janet - I got an e-mail from a good old friend who said to tell you:

Tell midwest6708 she needs to do whatever she does to get her count up and get that laser surgery for the narrow angle glaucoma done asap - she can go blind if it is not taken care of!! My husband has it and had the surgery on both eyes and for him it was a breeze.
