Is overexertion a possible cause of ITP?

In 2013, I participated in an extreme 5k mud run. It was only 5k, but there were difficult obstacles that made it feel a few times longer. It took me a week to recover.

I read that overexertion can release toxins in our body which can cause an imbalance in our system.

In mid-2014, when I went to my annual physical exam, I found out that I had ITP. I didn't have this in my 2013 exam.

So, is it possible that overexertion caused my ITP? Does anyone have a similar experience or can provide feedback?

I don't think there is a direct connection. The stress of it could have been part of a spiral that triggered ITP, but I wouldn't consider overexertion a cause. I'd be more concerned about the bacteria and other microbes that might have been in the mud.
