So last appointment with my doctor we discussed me trying Dex treatment. So much so that she said she would write me a prescription for a sleep aid and I would be off work for the 4 days. We discussed how I react to medications and she even said I would have to be treated during the week so she or a nurse could be on call in case of an issue.

Well went in today she had no memory of that conversation. She then proceeded to say there is always something you don't like about the treatments. She then mentioned prednisone and said you didn't like that one either.

.............. "No I didn't like Prednisone because it gave me hives"...............

Oh and the best part of my day my family doctor's office called he is closing his practice in April. They did put me on a list for another doctor. This new doctor is the doctor for the facility I work at. (You don't want to know what we say about him at work) but I need a doctor right can't go without!

I officially give up! I am tired of fighting doctors. I'm tired of the them saying one thing and doing another. First they agree with you and the next time they make it sound like your a nut case! UGH UGH UGH

Ok I'm off to watch a movie, cry, and sleep my troubles away. (yes my coping skills suck)

Winnifred! Who need this? Just miserable. I have no GP, I have a nurse practioner who is over-seen by a GP and you know it works very well. I have been where you are doctor-wise many times. I live in a small town and doctors just don't stick around. For me I also find that they become fatigued very easily with patients like us, and it doesn't take long. Then the stress of even having the GP ends up so stressful that I just quit "bothering" them and have no healthcare at all.
Sometimes I think my doctor visits should be taped! Sounds like your doctor was having a bad day.
Do they ever refer back to their own notes??
Your coping skills sound sound to me short term...but don't forget you have friends and don't forget to let everybody know how you are doing.

If it is of any comfort, I ran across this PDSA thread a few days ago.

Fasting is an interesting new idea but everyone is a little different - especially in regard to ITP !
