I just now read the 3 month old CNN article about the ZIKA and ITP link.
I was in the Southern Caribbean Jan/Feb 2016. Began noticing easy bruising and fatigue during winter months back home in Maine. Then in June, the bruising declared itself as much more serious symptom and it was confirmed in July to be ITP.
I am at this moment putting the pieces together and think that I may have had contact with the Zika virus in January/February and didn't know it.
Will be calling my hematologist tomorrow with my suspicion.
I am curious however to know if anyone else's may have the same possible cause?

Hello,

I just wanted to mention that my last bout of ITP started out when I was bit by what I thought was a mosquito; wasn't sure what kind it was--could have been even a West Nile mosquito. A lot of different things can cause ITP. Just that some people will get it while other won't.
