Relapsed for second time. was created by Dori
The first time I found out I had ITP was in Sept. of 2011. I was at 12,000. I was treated with Prednisone. I relapsed in July of 2012. Lots more Prednisone. I have now relapsed a second time a few weeks ago. This time my numbers were at 89,000/76,000/70,000. We are watchfully waiting. I will be checked each week & see what happens. I do not want treatment unless I fall really low. I have read that low platelets do not cause tiredness, but every time I drop under normal, i feel extremely tired. It is all I can do to go to work each day then come home & collapse on the sofa. Do most of you feel normal in your energy level? I am diabetic, so I don't have an abundance of energy anymore anyway, but it gets worse when my platelets drop. Does anyone know how typical it is to keep having relapses, & do most people keep having them?

Dori, yes, relapses are typical with ITP. If you can get a few years of remission in between relapses, you're doing good. Your counts are still at a safe level and it's possible they could go back up. Counts sometimes drop temporarily, so there is hope. I wish you the best and hope that you don't have to treat. Keep us updated!
