Question about clotting after IVIG. was created by Gshelton
Hello,

I have recently been getting IVIG and while I'm use to constant bruising around the IV site, one of my recent IVs has some swelling and is tender. I think I'm just being paranoid because my counts were up to 117 last week (yay) and I'm use to consistently being under 10 at this point. Should I be worried about clotting?

Thanks!

Is it in your hand or arm? That would be an unusual spot for a clot. Is it hard?

It's in my upper arm where they had to put my IV. There is a bit of a hard spot. I could just be being paranoid. It just started getting sore, the IV came out a week ago and I've had two more since then.

If it's on the skin like a small lump or bump, it's not a clot. You probably have a small hematoma. You can't see blood clots so if you can see a lump, it's not a clot.

If it is a clot, the area would be red, swollen and warm to the touch. It's hard for me to tell because I can't see it.

It's definitely a lump or bump just under the skin. It wasn't red or warm until I started poking at it. That makes me feel better. Thank you so much!

Okay then. Not a clot. Probably a hematoma.
